Aaron J. Small, MD, MSCE

Dr. Aaron Small is dedicated to providing the highest level of gastroenterology care to Hawaii’s communities, with a strong focus on prevention, early detection, and advanced treatment of digestive diseases.

After earning his medical degree at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Dr. Small completed his Internal Medicine residency at Cornell and his Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to receive additional subspecialty training in advanced GI endoscopy at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, bringing home skills and procedures that were previously unavailable in Hawaii.

Born in Waianae and raised in Mililani, Dr. Small has deep roots in the community and a personal passion for colon cancer prevention. After losing his grandmother to colon cancer, he made it his mission to expand access to life-saving screenings and to remove the barriers that too often keep patients from getting the care they need.

Dr. Small has authored numerous publications on digestive diseases and cutting-edge techniques, ensuring his patients benefit from the latest research and innovations in GI care. Patients appreciate his compassionate approach, clear communication, and commitment to treating every individual as if they were part of his own family.

Now raising his two children in Mililani with his wife—who was also born and raised there—Dr. Small is proud to serve the West, Central, and North Oahu communities with advanced gastroenterology and endoscopy services.
